Seaman Jones Files Jones Act Suit After Fall From Ladder

On July 22, Nederland, Texas resident Timothy David Jones filed a Jones Act suit against his employer, Cal Dive Offshore Contractors, for the personal injuries he suffered when he fell off a ladder on a boat.

The suit says that Jones was employed as a seaman doing oiler and mechanic work on board a Cal Dive barge. On November 7, he had to climb a ladder to gain access to a diesel generator.

Jones claims that as he was descending the ladder, the ship was tossed by choppy seas, causing him to slip. He says that he managed to catch himself with his arm, but the fall still caused him to suffer serious and permanent injuries.
