Sanford Woman Killed In Crash

A 35-year-old woman from Sanford died of the personal injuries she suffered in a crash in Lee County on the morning of January 17.

The woman, Martha Ann Clark, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

Shortly before 1 a.m., Clark was traveling in a 1999 Lexus when she approached the intersection of Sheriff Watson and Swann Station Road, according to Trooper C.B. Cook of the North Carolina Highway Patrol. She ran the stop sign, ran off the road, hit a ditch, and overturned multiple times. Cook said she was ejected during the crash.

According to Cook, Clark’s vehicle was estimated to have been traveling at a speed of 85 mph in a 55 mph zone.
