Sampson County Crash Claims 8-Year-Old Girl
An 8-year-old girl from Elizabethtown suffered fatal personal injuries on the morning of December 16 when the vehicle she was a passenger in slid of an icy road in Sampson County and overturned, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The family of Gabrielle Camile Johnson said that she was taken to Sampson Regional Medical Center after the accident, but was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to the Highway Patrol, Johnson was a passenger in a southbound vehicle on State Route 1200 around 9 a.m. when the vehicle slid on ice and ran off the road to the right. The vehicle then went down an embankment and overturned.
Two others, whose identities were not immediately made available, sustained injuries in the crash. However, the extent of their injuries was unknown as of December 17.
