Red Springs Woman Killed When Struck By SUV
A 40-year-old woman from Red Springs suffered fatal personal injuries on the night of November 15 when a sport utility vehicle struck her as she was walking on N.C. 71.
According to Trooper J.W. Scott of the North Carolina Highway Patrol, 40-year-old Angela Ross was walking in the southbound lane on N.C. 71 just before 7 p.m. when a 1993 GMC driven by 19-year-old Shannon resident Mark Donovan Chavis struck her. The scene of the accident was approximately a mile north of Red Springs.
Scott’s report said that Chavis was southbound at the time and traveling at the speed limit, which was 55 mph. So far there have been no charges filed.
