Red Springs Man Killed When SUV Sideswipes Dirt Bike
On the night of April 11, a man suffered fatal personal injuries when he was sideswiped by a truck as he was riding a dirt bike on St. Anna Road, approximately 2.5 miles north of Pembroke.
According to the report filed by North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper J.K. Locklear, the crash occurred shortly after 11 p.m.
The report said that 25-year-old Red Springs resident Justin Allen Oxendine was southbound on the dirt bike when he was sideswiped by a northbound 1996 GMC driven by Lumberton resident Jeremiah Junior Locklear that had crossed the center line. The dirt bike was forced off the road to the right, where it collided with a mailbox.
According to a spokeswoman for the NCHP, it is not know if Oxendine was wearing a helmet.
