Red Springs Bicylist Dies Two Days After Being Struck By Car
A man from Red Springs who suffered personal injuries on February 20 when he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle on Hubert McLean Road in Red Springs died of those injuries on February 22.
According to Sgt. Dwayne Leggett of the Red Springs Police Department, 53-year-old Rickie Sinclair received transport to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill for a head injury.
Leggett said Sinclair was westbound on his bicycle shortly before 5:45 p.m. when he was struck by a westbound 2006 Pontiac driven by 20-year-old Maxton resident Audrey Oxendine.
Leggett said that Oxendine said she could not see Sinclair due to glare from the sun. Sinclair was not wearing a helmet.
Leggett said no charges have been filed.
