Raleigh Teen Dies In Crash
A teenager from Raleigh suffered fatal personal injuries on April 10 after he lost control of his minivan and struck four trees.
Police said 16-year-old Saleh Jamal Abdullah was driving on Hickory Grove Church Road around 7:15 a.m. when the 2001 Chrysler minivan he was driving crossed the center line. Abdullah overcorrected to the right and hit the trees.
The report said that Abdullah was traveling at an estimated rate of 61 mph. The speed limit in the area is 45 mph.
Abdullah received transport to Duke Hospital, but he later died there.
The report said that Abdullah was not wearing a seat belt. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors, according to Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue.
