Popular Lillington Pastor Critically Injured In Crash
A popular pastor from Lillington has been listed in critical condition at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill from the personal injuries he suffered in a crash near Erwin on March 12.
Lillington Presbyterian Church pastor Reverend William Goodnight was involved in a “T-bone” collision that evening.
Goodnight initially received transport to Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn before receiving air transport to UNC Hospitals. According to members of his church, he is in dire condition due to the injuries he sustained to his lungs and other internal organs.
According to longtime church member retired District Court Judge Ed McCormick, Goodnight underwent a surgical procedure early on the morning of March 13. McCormick said that he had suffered “really serious internal injuries.”
Goodnight has been at First Presbyterian for the past 17 years and has become a fixture in the Lillington area.
