Police Charge Raleigh Woman In Crash That Killed One, Injured Four
A Raleigh woman was charged by police with causing a multivehicle accident on Interstate 540 in which an Oxford woman suffered fatal personal injuries.
According to an April 19 statement from Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue, 44-year-old Pamela Michelle Hoyles has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
Police said 45-year-old Oxford resident Sharon Garret McKinnon was eastbound on I-540 at about 7:30 a.m. on April 5 when the Toyota that Hoyles was driving veered out of control and collided with her Ford.
McKinnon lost control of her vehicle, which crossed the median into the westbound lanes, where it was struck by a van and another car. Four people were sent to the hospital as a result of the crash, including two passengers in McKinnon's car.
