Pickup Driver Charged In Fayetteville Crash

On July 19, police reported that the driver of a pickup truck that struck a car on July 16 at the intersection of Whitfield and Robeson streets in Fayetteville, resulting in personal injuries, was considered to be at fault for the accident.

According to Fayetteville police spokesman Dan Grubb, 23-year-old Valerie Kelly Rodriguez was cited for driving without a license and making an unsafe movement in connection to the accident, which took place at around 8 p.m.

Grubb said that Rodriguez was attempting to make a left turn onto Whitfield from Robeson and turned into the path of a 1994 Honda driven by 19-year-old Brienna Leigh Salzman. The impact caused the truck to roll onto its side.

Police say the accident caused the intersection to be closed for nearly an hour.
