Pennsylvania Woman Killed In Crash Near Wade

A 53-year-old woman from Pennsylvania suffered fatal personal injuries in an accident on Interstate 95 near Wade on the night of April 30.

North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper D.C. Cagle received the call shortly after 9:30 p.m.  to respond to an accident about a mile north of Wade.

Cagle said Sherron Irving was a passenger in a 1995 Toyota 4Runner driven by her former husband, Trevor Irving. The vehicle ran off the road to the left and Trevor Irving overcorrected. The 4Runner went back onto the highway, but went into a skid and he lost control. The sport utility vehicle then ran off the road to the right and overturned.

Sherron Irving died of internal injuries in the ambulance on the way to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Cagle said. Trevor Irving was not seriously injured.

Troopers charged Trevor Irving with failure to maintain lane control.
