Pedestrian Killed While Crossing I-85 In Charlotte

Police say a man suffered fatal personal injuries when he was struck by a car while attempting to cross Interstate 85 in Charlotte.

According to a report from the Charlotte Observer, the man, whose identity was not immediately made available, was struck early on the morning of September 6 while trying to cross I-85 just north of Sugar Creek Road.

According to North Carolina Highway Patrol Sgt. E.B. Miller, it is uncertain why the man was attempting to cross the interstate on foot, but it is a common occurrence in the area where the accident took place.

Miller says it is especially foolish because crossing the interstate requires climbing an 8-foot-high concrete barrier between the northbound and southbound lanes.
