According to officials, a man sustained personal injuries after a man from Bellevue, Iowa struck him with his pickup while driving while intoxicated on May 25.

On the night of the incident, 22-year-old Steven Dunn was driving through Baldwin, Iowa when he hit 33-year-old pedestrian Justin Dies, a resident of Dubuque, Iowa, the Jackson County, Iowa Sheriff’s Office said. Dunn left the scene and continued to drive for approximately seven miles before law enforcement stopped him.

Dies required transport to the Jackson County Regional Health Center and was later transferred to University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Police arrested Dunn on charges of first offense driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and causing serious injury by vehicle. He was imprisoned at the Jackson County Detention Center.
