Pedestrian Fatally Struck Near Goldsboro

A pedestrian suffered fatal personal injuries on the morning of June 27 after he was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 795 south of Goldsboro.

According to a supervisor with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, 39-year-old Goldsboro resident Frederick Lamonte Tarpley was traveling in a 2004 Nissan when his vehicle hit 19-year-old Goldsboro resident Victor Seja-Fuentes.

Sgt. M. Kirby said that troopers were led to believe by early evidence that Fuentes was walking along the shoulder of the road when he was struck by Tarpley’s vehicle shortly before 4:30 a.m.

According to Kirby, Tarpley was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was traveling at an estimated speed of 70 miles per hour, which was the speed limit for the area.
