Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train In Hillsborough
On the afternoon of July 10, a pedestrian suffered fatal personal injuries from being struck by an Amtrak train near Hillsborough.
According to Lt. Robert Patton of Orange County Emergency Services, the pedestrian was killed on a stretch of track that travels under Interstate 85 behind a Wal-Mart. The 911 concerning the accident was received around 12:45 p.m.
Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari was en route from Raleigh to Charlotte and was delayed for an hour and 16 minutes. None of the 64 passengers or members of the crew were injured.
The accident remains under the investigation of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
