Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Tractor-Trailer Near Rocky Mount

North Carolina state troopers reported that a pedestrian suffered fatal personal injuries after being struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 North, north of Rocky Mount, on the morning of June 19.

Troopers say the man was walking alongside the interstate before stepping into the tractor-trailer’s path at mile marker 146 at about 8:30 a.m. The truck’s side was the part of the vehicle that struck him.

Troopers say they found no fault by the driver, who immediately stopped after the accident. They do not expect charges to be filed.

The accident resulted in traffic on both sides of the interstate being slowed.
