Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In Charlotte Area With Non-Working Street Lights

On the morning of April 15, new details were released by police regarding an automobile accident the night before in northeast Charlotte in which a man suffered fatal personal injuries.

On April 14, two men were struck by a car as they were walking across North Tryon Street near the Waffle House. He was pronounced dead.

After the accident, the driver stopped and called 911. He said that he did not see the victim because he was wearing dark clothing. No charges have been filed against him.

The street lights at the scene of the crash were not observed to have been working, though the lights across the street were. An officer on the scene says that the lack of working lights in the area has created problems over the past several years.
