Passenger Files Suit Against Both Drivers After Crash

A woman has filed a personal injury suit in which she claims the suffered injuries as the passenger in a car involved in a collision.

According to the suit she filed on March 24 in Illinois’ St. Clair County Circuit Court against both drivers involved in the crash, Melinda Coffey was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Mallory Melvin that collided with the vehicle driven by Samantha Kaitlyn Ball.

Coffey claims the crash caused her to sustain pain, suffering, disability, and disfigurement, incur medical costs, and suffer a past and future loss of income. She also claims to have suffered a loss of normal life and experienced an increased risk of future injury.

The suit alleges negligence on the part of both drivers for failure to maintain a proper lookout, failure to drive in the proper lane, driving at an excessive speed, and driving in another vehicle’s path.

Coffey seeks damages in excess of $100,000, plus costs, from the two-count suit.
