A woman has filed a personal injury suit claiming that the man who was driving the vehicle she was a passenger in collided with a parked boat and trailer.
According to the suit Kathy Burkett filed against Hugh Horner in Illinois’ St. Clair County Circuit Court on June 3, she was a passenger in Horner’s vehicle on June 4, 2007 when he ran into a boat and trailer that had been parked on the side of the road.
Burkett claims the incident caused her to suffer severe and permanent neck, back, right shoulder, and left leg injuries. She also claims she has become hindered from attending to her usual duties, lost large sums of money, experienced great physical and mental pain, suffering, and anguish, and incurred medical expenses.
The suit alleges negligence on the part of Horner for failure to maintain a proper lookout, failure to observe the boat and trailer parked on the side of the road, failure to maintain control of his vehicle, failure to apply his brakes, failure to decrease speed, failure to take evasive action, and driving too closely to the boat and trailer.
