Authorities reported on September 27 that a teenager from Oxford suffered fatal personal injuries on September 26 when he was struck by a pickup truck while exiting a car.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that 15-year-old Sevon Cameron was exiting a car near the intersection of U.S. Highway 15 and Stovall Road around 2 a.m. when he was struck and killed.
Authorities say the pickup’s driver, 36-year-old Oxford resident Curtis T. Cash, drove home and called 911 to report the incident. He was arrested at his home on charges of driving while impaired and felony hit-and-run.
The incident remains under investigation.
Court records show that Cash has prior DWIs on his record. He was convicted in 1999 and has charges from 1996 and 2004 that were dismissed.
