One Motorcyclist Dead, Another Injured In Fayetteville Collision

A man from Maryland suffered fatal personal injuries on the night of October 21 after a collision in which his motorcycle struck the rear of a pickup truck on Bragg Boulevard.

Fayetteville police say that 41-year-old Belcamp, Maryland resident Robert Nichols died at the scene. The accident took place shortly before 10 p.m.

Nichols and 42-year-old Hope Mills resident Ted Sarbaugh were both eastbound on separate Harley Davidson motorcycles when a pickup truck turned onto the road from Barrington Place, according to police.

Police said Nichols’ motorcycle rear-ended the truck driven by 71-year-old Fayetteville resident Walter Brannen.

The impact resulted in Sarbaugh losing control of his motorcycle, which fell over, ejecting him.

Sarbaugh received transport to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Information on his condition was not immediately made available.
