One Killed, Three Injured In Head-On Collision Near Clinton
The North Carolina Highway Patrol says one man was killed and three others suffered personal injuries in a head-on collision near Clinton on September 23.
According to Trooper J.P. Weissinger, 31-year-old Clinton resident Silvano Enrique Ververde died shortly after the vehicle he was riding to work in was hit at approximately 5:30 a.m. on N.C. 24.
Ververde was a back seat passenger in the vehicle, according to Weissinger. The driver of that vehicle, 27-year-old Turkey resident Celio Jacome, and another passenger, 30-year-old Clinton resident Jeremy Chapa, received transport to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, according to Weissinger.
Weissinger said that 36-year-old Albertson resident Israel Perez was westbound on N.C. 24 when he allegedly crossed the center line and collided head-on with the other vehicle. He received ambulance transport to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with serious injuries.
Weissinger said that charges are pending against Perez.
