The North Carolina Highway Patrol says that a 15-year-old boy suffered fatal personal injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Boggs Dairy Road in Thomasville on the night of March 3.
The victim was identified by the NCHP as Dustin Craig Stillwell. They said he was a passenger in a Honda driven by 15-year-old Hunter Grainger, whose family said he received transport to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
They were the only two passengers in the vehicle.
Fifteen-year-olds can obtain learner permits for driving under North Carolina law, but are required to be accompanied by a licensed driver when they are behind the wheel.
Grainger is an East Davidson High School student. Stillwell was also a student there before transferring to Thomasville High School.
The crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m. near the Boggs Dairy Road and Lake Road intersection.
