One Killed, One Injured In Raeford Crash
On December 4, an 18-year-old woman died of the personal injuries she suffered in a crash in Raeford when she turned into the path of a van on Rockfish Road in Raeford, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The crash took place shortly before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Rockfish Road and Nathanial Greene Circle.
Raeford resident Catherine A. Spencer died at the scene, according to Trooper J.D. Hoover.
Spencer, in a 2000 Hyundai, was making a left turn from Nathanial Greene Circle onto Rockfish Road when she turned into the path of a 1996 Ford van driven by 55-year-old Raeford resident Billy Craig Peterkin.
Hoover said the impact spun Spencer’s vehicle and sent it sliding off the road.
Peterkin received transport to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
