One Killed, One Injured In Foxfire Crash
A man from Laurinburg died and a passenger suffered serious personal injuries on January 20 when his vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler log truck at the intersection of Hoffman and Foxfire roads.
According to Foxfire Police Sgt. Chad Shue, 80-year-old Horace Myers received transport to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Myers’ passenger, 88-year-old Norman resident Nelma McLeod, received air transport to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Shue said the crash occurred shortly before noon.
Police say Myers was westbound on Foxfire Road and apparently failed to yield at a stop sign, pulling out in front of a truck that was northbound on Hoffman Road.
Shue said 58-year-old Hurley Saunders, the truck’s driver, suffered minor injuries in the collision.
