The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that a 21-year-old from Robeson sustained personal injuries in a wreck near Lumberton on the morning of February 28.
Christian Lowery died when a Chevrolet Malibu driven by her sister, 24-year-old April Lowery, collided with a Ford pickup truck that ran a stop sign on Carthage Road, according to Trooper R.D. Terry.
The Malibu was northbound on Pine Log Road and struck the westbound Ford on its side, Terry said. The sisters received transport to Southeastern Medical Center, where Christian Lowery was later pronounced dead. April Lowery’s injuries were considered to be serious.
Terry said the truck’s driver, 56-year-old Orrum resident Durham Barnes was also injured in the accident, but his were not considered serious.
