One Dead, Two Injured In Collision Between Truck And Moore County School Bus

One person died and two others were sent to the hospital with personal injuries after a collision between a school bus and a truck near High Falls on the afternoon of January 6, according to a Moore County Schools spokesman.

The spokesman, Tim Lussier, said that no students were aboard the bus when the crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m.

Lussier said that Moore County Schools Bus 102 was being driven north on N.C. 22 by David Shelton as it was on its way to High Falls Elementary School after making its afternoon rounds. A southbound truck with two occupants, whose identities were not immediately made available, was also on the road at the time.

The bus was turning into the school when the two vehicles collided, Lussier said. One of the truck’s occupants died and another received air transport to the hospital. Shelton received transport to Moore Regional Hospital.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
