One Dead, Three Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash In Stallings

Police in Stallings responded to a June 6 accident at around 4 p.m. in which several vehicles were involved, one person was killed, and several sustained personal injuries. Police arrived at the scene at the intersection of Lawyers Road and Gold Dust Drive to discover four passenger vehicles and a motorcycle were involved.

Four of the people involved received transport from Union EMS to Carolinas Medical Center-Main in Charlotte.

The motorcycle’s operator, 51-year-old Stallings resident Donald James Fumo, was rear-ended by a sport utility vehicle driven by Stallings resident Richard Hardin. Fumo was ejected into the vehicle that had stopped in front of him, resulting in a collision with the two other vehicles involved.

Fumo was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The three others who received hospital transport were released after undergoing treatment.

The accident remains under investigation.
