One Dead, One Injured When Tractor-Trailers Collide Near Zebulon
One person died and another suffered personal injuries on the morning of May 13 in a collision on U.S. 64 near Zebulon involving a pair of tractor-trailers, according to authorities.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported that 30-year-old Greensboro resident James Clinton was eastbound on Highway 64 near Lizard Lick Road shortly before 9:30 a.m. when he stopped in the right-hand lane and was rear-ended by the other tractor-trailer.
The driver of the second tractor trailer, whose name was not released, died upon impact, according to authorities. Clinton received transport to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are still trying to discern the reason Clinton stopped on the highway.
According to authorities, Clinton is a driver for Lowell, Arizona-based J.B. Hunt Inc. The other driver was an employee of Austell, Georgia-based Preferred Transport & Distribution, Inc.
