One Dead, One Injured In West Charlotte Crash
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police reported that a man suffered fatal personal injuries in a November 9 crash in West Charlotte.
According to police, Brian Scott Courtemanche was driving along Amos Smith Road, near Old Dowd Road, shortly after 6 p.m. when the crash occurred.
Police say Courtemanche rounded a curve at a high rate of speed in a 1991 Honda Civic and crossed the double yellow lane divider, into the oncoming traffic lane. The vehicle then ran off the road to the left, collided with three trees, overturned, and came to rest upside-down in the middle of the road.
Officers said that Courtemanche and his passenger, David Williams Curley, were both ejected during the crash.
Both men received transport to Carolinas Medical Center-Main. Courtemanche was later pronounced dead there. Curley’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The crash remains under investigation.
