Authorities reported on April 28 that a girl died on Tuesday of the personal injuries she suffered in an accident at the intersection of Smith Farm and Holly Grove roads, around five miles east of Lexington.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that 12-year-old Thomasville resident Lindsey Taylor Hipp was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after the crash and was later pronounced dead there. Her sister, 16-year-old Elizabeth Nicole Hipp, was treated for her injuries at the hospital.
The elder sibling was driving her car west on Holly Grove Road when she turned into the path of a pickup driven by 36-year-old Lexington resident David Rose on Smith Farm Road shortly before 7:20 a.m. The younger sibling was a passenger in her vehicle.
The NCHP said that alcohol was not a factor and that all three people involved were wearing seatbelts.
According to a television report, Lindsey Hipp was a Central Davidson Middle School student and Elizabeth Hipp is a Central Davidson High School student.
