One Dead, One Critically Injured When Car Collides With House In Raleigh

One man died and another suffered critical personal injuries on the morning of August 20 after a 2004 BMW collided with a house on Tryon Road in Raleigh, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Trooper Ceon Cayco reported that speed and wet roads were considered to be factors in the accident, which took place near the intersection of Tryon Road and Tryon Pines Drive shortly before 12:30 a.m.

Cayco said that the driver, identified as 20-year-old Holly Springs resident Maximillian Bratton, was killed on impact. The passenger, 19-year-old Raleigh resident Ethan Herring, received transport to WakeMed in Raleigh, where he was listed in critical condition.

None of the occupants of the house, who were sleeping at the time, were injured. The car crashed through a pair of brick fence posts, scraped the carport, and collided with the home, according to Cayco. The carport collapsed during the wreck.

According to Cayco, the vehicle was traveling at an estimated speed of 65 mph in a 45 mph zone and the roads were slick due to heavy rain. He said no one witnessed the accident.
