One person suffered fatal personal injuries in a crash on the morning of February 4 on North Carolina 311 South near the interchange with Interstate 40.
Police said they responded to the scene around 5:45 a.m. and found a crashed 2003 Nissan 350Z that had run off the side of the road.
The driver, 35-year-old Winston-Salem resident Wesley Miles, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they had to close the eastbound and westbound ramps onto 311, but they were reopened by 9 a.m.
Motorists had been warned of possible ice spots as sleet and freezing rain fell in some areas of the Triad, but police said weather was not a factor in the crash. Instead, police said speed was the cause.
Police said the crash was the second fatal accident in Winston-Salem this year.
