One Dead, Four Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash In Wake County

On April 6, the driver of a car involved in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 540 on the morning of April 5 has died of the personal injuries she suffered.

The driver, 45-year-old Oxford resident Sharon Garret McKinnon was eastbound on I-540 around 7:30 a.m. when the driver of the car beside her lost control and collided with her.

McKinnon then lost control of her vehicle, which slid through the median and under the cable barrier, entering the westbound lanes, where her vehicle was struck by a van and another car, according to an accident report.

In total, four people were hospitalized, including two passengers in McKinnon's vehicle.

No citations have been issued as of yet, but police say the investigation has not yet been concluded.
