North Carolina-based Fisher-Rex Sandwich Company has issued a voluntary recall for some of its pre-packaged sandwiches due to a potential risk of personal injury after testing by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services confirmed the presence of Listeria in product samples.
Fisher-Rex’s products that are subject to recall can be identified by a six-digit product code beginning with 01. Products with a five-digit identification code are not part of the recall.
The products in question were distributed to convenience stores, gas stations, and other retail stores across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
According to state Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler, consumers who have purchased the sandwiches in question should discard them. He said that inspectors will be dispatched to ensure the products are removed from store shelves.
So far, no illnesses have been reported.
