Nineteen Sent To Hospital After Second Collision Between Train And Bus At Same Houston Intersection

Officials say that 19 people were sent to the hospital for the personal injuries they suffered in a collision between a transit bus and a light-rail train in downtown Houston, Texas on March 15.

According to the Metropolitan Transit Authority, the accident occurred at the same intersection where another collision between a train and a bus took place five weeks before this accident.

The accident remains under investigation by metro transit police. Officials say the majority of the people hospitalized complained of neck and back injuries.

In the prior accident, the bus apparently ran a red light and collided with the train, resulting in nine people being sent to hospitals.

According to Metro spokeswoman Raequel Roberts, officials are looking into why two accidents have taken place at the same intersection, which is located just outside Metro’s headquarters.
