A judge recently gave a man from Omaha, Nebraska a sentence of five years probation in addition to ordering him to pay a fine of $50,000 after he was convicted of Social Security disability fraud.

Sixty-five-year-old Jesse Erwin was charged after it was learned that while collecting $54,000 in benefits from Social Security disability, he was running an asphalt paving business from 2001 until 2007. He was found guilty of failing to report the business, as had he reported it, he wouldn’t have been eligible to receive disability benefits.

Erwin is now required to make a repayment of all the money he received from the fraudulent disability claims.
