Multicar Accident Kills Woman
Multicar Accident Kills Woman
On Thursday a multicar accident took the life of a 72-year-old woman and injured her 77-year-old husband on Country Club Drive.
A Toyota Camry driven by Lee Roy Syfrett crossed the centerline and hit an Oldsmobile that was traveling west. The driver of the Oldsmobile, whose name was not released, was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with a severe leg injury.
Syfrett’s wife, Barbara died from injuries received in the accident.
A third vehicle, also traveling west on Country Club Drive, tried to avoid the collision and was hit in the rear by a vehicle. This impact caused the third vehicle to run off the road, hit a ditch and overturn.
A fifth vehicle avoided the collision, but ran off the right side of the road and hit the curb.
The accident is being investigated.
