Motorcyclist Killed In Lumberton Crash
A man from Shannon suffered fatal personal injuries on the morning of October 29 when he lost control of his motorcycle on Hammonds Road and crashed into a ditch, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident was reported shortly after 9 a.m. and took place about 2.5 miles east of Lumberton, according to the accident report filed by Trooper H.P. Locklear.
The report said 24-year-old Daniel Lee Hunt was westbound on a 2000 Suzuki street motorcycle when he lost control.
The motorcycle was estimated to have been traveling at a rate of 80 mph when it ran off the road to the right and hit a ditch.
The report said Hunt was ejected during the crash and landed in a concrete culvert. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The report said Hunt was wearing his helmet, but the impact badly damaged it.
