Mother And 5-Year-Old Daughter Injured In Lillington Crash

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, a woman from Sanford and her 5-year-old daughter suffered personal injuries in a crash in Lillington in which their vehicle overturned on Benhaven School Road.

According to the report filed by Trooper J.E. Stahl, the driver, 38-year-old Amy Olive Basolt, will be charged with DWI, having an open container of alcohol in her vehicle, reckless driving, and failure to wear a seat belt.

The report said that the crash occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m., nearly seven miles south of Sanford and just south of Graham Road.

Basolt was southbound at a rate of approximately 70 mph when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, according to the report. She pulled the vehicle back onto the road, but it began to overturn as it ran off the road for a second time.

Basolt was ejected from the vehicle, the report said. Her daughter, Ava Basolt, was in a child-restraint seat and only suffered minor injuries.

Both received transport to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, but their conditions were not available.
