Two men who suffered fatal personal injuries in a September 18 crash were identified on September 20 as soldiers from Fort Bragg.
According to the 82nd Airborne Division, 32-year-old Sheridan, Wyoming native Sgt. James Abell and 24-year-old Los Angeles, California native Sgt. Christopher Parodi were pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center at 7 a.m. Both were paratroopers in the division.
Fayetteville police say the soldiers were headed north in the direction of Fort Bragg in a Toyota pickup driven by Parodi at a high rate of speed around 2:15 a.m. The truck collided with a slower-moving Chevrolet and ran off the highway and up an embankment. The pickup wedged under the Skibo Road overpass.
Two occupants of the Chevrolet were uninjured.
