Man Seriously Injured In Fayetteville Crash

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that one man sustained serious personal injuries on the morning of February 18 when his car overturned on Baywood Road in Fayetteville.

According to Trooper C.T. Walker, 34-year-old Edward Mark Baxley received air transport to UNCH Hospitals in Chapel Hill around 11:30 a.m. with injuries considered to be life-threatening. A hospital spokeswoman said his condition was listed as critical as of the night of the accident.

The accident occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. less than half a mile from the Murphy Road intersection in front of the Stonecreek at Eastover subdivision.

Baxley was northbound in an Acura, traveling toward the intersection, when the car ran off the road, Walker said. He steered back onto the roadway but crossed the center line, ran off the road to the other side, and overturned.

Walker said the Baxley was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected through the vehicle’s rear windshield.

Walker cited speed as a factor, noting that Baxley was traveling at an approximate rate of 65 mph in a 55 mph zone.
