Man Killed In Rolesville Crash

Authorities say a 20-year-old man died of the personal injuries he suffered on the morning of December 1 when he lost control of his car, which crashed into a fence and pine tree of N.C. 96 near Rolesville.

According to North Carolina Highway Patrol spokesman Dave Major, 20-year-old Rolesville resident Jesus Tolentino Antonio died at the scene.

State Troopers say speed was a factor in the crash, which occurred shortly before 1 a.m.

The NCHP said that Antonio was the lone occupant of a northbound 2002 Volkswagen that was traveling along N.C. 96 at an estimated speed of 80 mph. The speed limit for the area is 55 mph, according to Major.

The car crossed the center line and ran off the road to the left, where it struck a fence and then a tree, according to the NCHP.

The accident remains under investigation.
