One man suffered fatal personal injuries during a police chase in Fayetteville on the morning of January 6.
Fayetteville Police say that at approximately 5:15 a.m., a woman called police to report a man looking into vehicles. She called again a short time later to tell police her husband was following the man’s vehicle.
Police responded to the call and located the suspect, 24-year-old Percyful Junior Mcintyre, who was driving a silver Ford F-150. He refused to stop and police pursued him.
The Pamalee Drive and Cain Road intersection was blocked by police in order to reduce the likelihood of the suspect vehicle striking other vehicles. However, a Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by John Velandra failed to yield and entered the intersection.
Mcintyre collided with Velandra and fled the scene.
Velandra received transport to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he later died.
Police are continuing to search for Mcintyre and warrants have been issued for his arrest for first degree murder, felony speeding to elude, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, and felony hit-and-run.
