Man Files Suit Against Bars After Losing Four Fingers By Riding With Allegedly Drunken Driver

A man has filed a personal injury suit alleging that he suffered a loss of four fingers on his dominant hand after riding as a passenger in a vehicle driven by a driver he claims was intoxicated.

According to the suit filed on May 5 in Illinois’ Madison County Circuit Court by Michael Kovaly, he rode in a vehicle with driver Michael Mrazek after Mrazek had consumed alcoholic beverages at the Moose Lodge, Runaway Lounge, and Donzo’s Lounge.

The suit names Mrazek, The Wood River Moose Lodge doing business as the Moose Lodge, Runaway Lounge and Package Liquor, and Donzo’s Lounge as defendants.

The suit says that Mrazek’s intoxication resulted in him causing an automobile accident in which Kovaly was injured.

Kovaly claims that, in addition to the loss of his fingers, he experienced pain and suffering, disability, a loss of wages, and a loss of ability to pursue his normal activities and incurred medical expenses.

Kovaly seeks damages in excess of $150,000 from the three-count suit.
