Man Claims He Was Hit While Crossing Street

A man from Berkeley County, West Virginia man has filed a personal injury suit against a woman from Jefferson County, West Virginia alleging that she hit him with her vehicle as he was crossing the street.

According to the suit he filed in Berkeley County Circuit Court on October 27, Jacob Bernard Sykes was walking north on the east sidewalk of S. Raleigh Street shortly after 9:45 a.m. when he decided to cross W. South Street.

The suit claims that at that same time, Susan Lea Rudy was southbound on S. Raleigh Street in her 2003 Kia Optima and, while making a left-hand turn, struck Sykes. He claims that the incident caused him to suffer personal injuries and incur medical expenses.

The suit claims negligence on the part of Rudy for her failure to maintain a proper lookout, failure to yield right-of-way, and failure to maintain control of her vehicle. Sykes seeks damages of $100,000, plus costs.
