A Knotts Island, North Carolina man was recently identified by police in Virginia Beach, Virginia as the victim of a rollover accident that occurred on January 5.

Matthew Lee Burnette, 25, died of the personal injuries he sustained in the crash.

On the day of the accident, Burnette was the passenger in a truck of Virginia Beach resident Allan James Tauchen, also 25, according to police. According to police spokeswoman Margie Long, the truck was southbound when it ran off the right side of the road as it was rounding a curve. Tauchen overcorrected, causing the truck to rollover and eject Burnette. The vehicle then landed on top of Burnette.

Police charged Tauchen with involuntary manslaughter and driving under the influence. Police were holding Tauchen without bond and the crash is under investigation, according to police.
