Man Bitten By Dog At Oktoberfest, City May Ban Dogs At Festivals

On October 4, a man attending Oktoberfest in the historic downtown area of Greer, South Carolina suffered personal injuries after a German shepherd bit him on the cheek, according to Greer police.

The owner of the dog, Andrea Elaine Wyk, told police that the reason the dog bit the man was unknown and she wasn’t sure if it had its rabies shot, according to the police report.

According to Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce director of marketing Lynn Pascazio, the incident may cause the city to consider an ordinance prohibiting dogs at festivals.

According to the victim, Virginia resident Gary Bang, at the time of the incident, he was reaching into his briefcase when the dog suddenly came around the corner and attacked. He sustained five bite marks to his cheek that he self treated.
