Man Attacked By Police Dog Due To Mistaken Identity

On May 29, a man suffered personal injuries when he was attacked by a Danville, Virginia police dog. He was mistakenly arrested by police, who released him after an investigation determined he was not the man spotted on a security video breaking into Professional Pharmacy.

On the day of the incident, police responded to an alarm at the pharmacy and discovered the glass front door shattered, according to a release from the police department. Officers spotted a suspect running behind the business and called in a K-9 unit. After discovering the man hiding in a bush, the dog began to bark and bite him.

The man was arrested and then released after the videotape was reviewed. Police transported the man to the hospital for treatment for dog bite wounds.
