A tip led to the arrest of a man wanted on a charge of second-degree murder in connection to a February crash in which his sister suffered fatal personal injuries, said Fayetteville police in an April 10 announcement.
On April 7, police issued an arrest warrant charging 27-year-old Stedman resident Richard Boyd White Jr. in connection to the February 8 wreck in which 22-year-old Elizabeth White was killed.
A Crime Stoppers tipster notified Fayetteville police that Richard White was in Benson. He was arrested there by Johnston County sheriff's deputies.
Police said that on the day of the crash, Richard White lost control of his car as he was driving along Bragg Boulevard in Fayetteville, sending it off the road, where it collided with a utility pole. He sustained critical injuries and Elizabeth White, who was a passenger in the front seat, died. A second passenger sustained minor injuries.
Police said that at the time of the crash, Richard White was under the influence of an impairing substance and his driver's license was suspended. He has two prior convictions for DWI in 2007 in addition to convictions for assault on a female and drug offenses, according to records from the Department of Correction.
